Shattered and broken

Destroyed and lost

Is what the power of the tongue leaves behind,

In its deadly wake

It’s amazing how

Much damage can be left behind

By simple sentences

Word’s

Phrases

Sounds

So small

So weak

And yet

It can impact a nation

A people group

A family

Or an individual

Why don’t we think?

Before we speak?

Why don’t we stop?

Before we act on emotion

Because what has been said

Cannot be unsaid

Because what damage has been caused

Cannot be undone by human hands.

Why don’t we uplift

Rather than destroy

Why don’t we encourage

Instead of throw away

Why don’t we emphasize

Rather than sympathize

Why don’t we listen?

Before we speak

Why don’t we comfort?

Before we opinionate.

Don’t blame your actions on those before you

Because you have a choice.

To destroy

Or to build up.

Man up!

Take responsibility for your actions

Instead of being a coward to your pride

And hiding away in your lies

Like a viper ready to strike.

Speak with the voice of God

Gentle as the wind

Firm as the rock

Loving as the Messiah

God is our example

God is our Judge

God is our Father

And Christ

 Is our savior, forever, amen
